A small metal hook that weavers usually use, when tying symmetrical (Turkish) knots, to grab the yarn and pull it through between the warp threads. The rug is still made entirely by hand, and the tool contributes to the very even, precise knotting for which Tabriz weavers, who use the Turkish knot, are known. Asymmetrical (Persian) knots are usually tied with the fingers alone, and weavers typically do not use a hook for them.
