Traditional Persian rug sizes based on the zar, an old unit of measure of roughly 104 cm derived from the arm. A dozar ("two zar") measures about 2 × 1.3 m, while a zaronim ("a zar and a half") is around 1.5 × 1 m. Terms like these reveal how deeply rug making is woven into daily life: sizes were standardized around rooms, doorways, and bodies centuries before metric measurements.
