Silk in a Hand-Knotted Rug

Most pieces in this collection are wool and silk: a wool pile in which the weaver reserved silk for the light — the outline of a medallion, the white of a blossom, the sheen inside a border. A smaller number are pure silk, knotted so finely that the drawing reads like a print.

Nearly all come from the Persian workshops known for this work, Nain above all with Tabriz beside it, and the palettes are led by cream and blue, with reds as the main alternative. Round wool-and-silk rugs belong to this shelf too.

Pure Silk or Wool and Silk?

Wool and silk is the everyday choice: the wool carries the footsteps, the silk carries the light, and the rug lives well in a living room or bedroom. Pure silk is finer and more delicate — at its best in quieter rooms, under light furniture, or on a wall.

The formats run from small bedside pieces to large room sizes, so the same weave exists for the foot of a bed and for the centre of a salon.

How Silk Behaves, and How to Keep It

Silk reflects light directionally: the same rug reads paler from one end of the room and deeper from the other, and that change of face is the point. Rotate the rug a quarter turn every few months so it wears and fades evenly, vacuum gently along the pile without a beater bar, and blot anything spilled at once — never rub silk.

Each listing names the exact materials and dimensions. Every rug ships free, with import duties covered on deliveries outside the EU.
